Thames and Chilterns in Bloom – Judges Visit Twyford

Tuesday saw the second visit from the Thames and Chilterns in Bloom judges for the 2022 round of judging. Judges toured around Twyford stopping to meet representatives from local clubs and organisations and hearing more about projects such as the Twyford Growers – a wellbeing gardening group. They visited community garden areas and saw wildflower areas tended by volunteers. Enthusiastic children from Polehampton Junior School showed judges their ‘secret garden’, a therapeutic growing space.

Twyford in Bloom is co-ordinated by Twyford Parish Council with the support of Twyford Together and local organisations, clubs and volunteers. They meet throughout the year to plan horticultural projects to help make Twyford a more beautiful place for its residents. Each summer Twyford enters the national competition and judges visit as part of the RHS Britain in Bloom.

Councillor Bridget Ditcham who leads the Twyford in Bloom working group said “The In Bloom Judges saw Twyford at its best yesterday during their 2 hour visit. They inspected areas which show our heritage, community involvement and horticultural activities. The judges enjoyed speaking with enthusiastic volunteers about their various ongoing projects and plans. Twyford is very fortunate to have many residents who work throughout the year to protect and improve our lovely village. The sunshine was an added bonus! We look forward to hearing the competition results in September.”

We are keeping everything crossed for the results!
