The BIG Twyford Tree Planting Project

Tree project banner

It was just over a year ago when the Howard family made contact with Twyford Parish Council asking if we could help them to realise their ambition to plant a forest. The family had been collecting seeds and had planted over 75 trees into pots turning their garden into a mini nursery. The family’s mini trees were too small to plant in Stanlake Meadow but we met with Rebecca Howard and the plan to create the ‘Big Twyford Tree Project’ began.

Twyford residents embraced the idea and over £3,000 was raised through Crowd Fundraising after the Howard Family made a short video to promote the project. A donation from the Liebreoch Foundation Charity gave the funds a further boost.

Today, in National Tree Week – the UK’s largest annual tree celebration, residents have come together to plant their trees. Some are in memory of a loved one, some are family trees or purchased by a Twyford club or organisation. In the first phase, we have planted over 75 trees at Stanlake Meadow.
