New Chairman and Vice-Chairman announcement

At Twyford Parish Council’s Annual Meeting of the Council held on Tuesday 24th May 2022, Councillor Rohana Abeywardana was elected as Chairman and Councillor Martin Alder as Vice Chairman of the Parish Council. Cllr Abeywardana thanked outgoing Chairman Roy Mantel for his commitment and leadership.  He commented on Mr Mantel’s altruism, commitment and generosity of time. Councillors gave a round of applause in thanks to Mr Mantel.

After the meeting, Mr Abeywardana said “It is a real honour to have been elected Chair of Twyford Parish Council alongside Martin Alder who will take up the role as Vice-Chair.  We look forward to working with the Parish Councillors to serve the village and offer support during a challenging economic period.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Roy Mantel for many years of dedicated service to the community in his role as Chair and Vice-Chair and we will continue to work closely with Roy as a fellow councillor.

The opening up of the Elizabeth Line will lead to better connectivity to London and will see positive changes to our village.  We look forward to listening to the community, working proactively with local organisations and continuing to develop our innovative projects (Neighbourhood Plan, TwyForward, Twyford Growers and the Climate Change Action Plan).

Please do contact the council if you have any ideas about what you would like to see achieved in our beautiful village over the next year.”

Cllr Martin Alder added “It is a privilege to have been elected Vice-Chair to Twyford Parish Council. I look forward to working with other council members and our small staff team, to make our village a better place to live and work in.”
