I originally moved to the local area with my parents in 1975, living in Wargrave for most of my formative years, only moving away as my job with Xerox relocated in 1993. Growing up in this part of Berkshire, I have a deep love and concern for both its people and places. Returning to the area in 2013, I settled with my husband, Graham, in Twyford, making this town my home. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke soon after moving back to Berkshire which caused me to reluctantly give up my own business. This event has given me a very personal understanding of how people may be impacted by disability through my own experience and that of my sister who is both mentally and physically disabled. I have since rehabilitated myself despite being confined to a wheelchair for two years. I now hold a management position at a local Garden Centre with additional responsibilities for Loss Prevention, Health and Safety and Community Engagement. I have also held various positions in voluntary organisations such as Chair of School PTA, Secretary of Woodley Air Cadets CIVCOM, Secretary of Twyford Singers as well as volunteering at Age Concern in Twyford and being an active member of the Twyford Together Christmas Fayre Committee. I am also a business mentor for Business Studies students at Piggott School. I am an organised, focussed and widely experienced professional, bringing my business and life experience to the role of councillor.
I love helping people to reach their potential through the provision of care, support and the creation of great facilities to support both business and individual growth. I would strive to help Twyford to be safe, accessible and to bring people in the community together with the best facilities within a clean and protected environment. I am committed to preserving our green spaces and countryside conservation through sustainable methods to provide healthy, well managed spaces for all people to enjoy. I would be honoured to serve as a councillor for the Twyford Parish where I look forward to working as part of the team and would be dedicated to the success of the council in providing the support this parish community deserves, building upon the great community spirit already established in Twyford and further unlocking its potential to do even greater things together.
