Halloween in Twyford
Rather than cancelling Halloween this year due to the coronavirus pandemic local resident Rebecca decided to create a Halloween Hunt for the wannabe trick or treaters in the village. Households were able to join a specially created online group where they could discuss creative decorating ideas and share photos.
Each decorated home was listed on a live online map that was made publicly available ahead of the 3 day Covid-safe event.
Rebecca said “Rather than knocking on people’s doors, children and their families were encouraged to dress up and take a walk around the village, and neighbouring Charvil & Ruscombe to spot the spooky houses! Due to coronavirus restrictions, and as lockdown was looking more imminent, we wanted to find something fun for the children to do towards the end of half-term.”
133 households took part and displays ranged from homemade ghosts and ghouls stuck up in the windows, to elaborately carved pumpkins, and even a couple of projected displays! The efforts were truly amazing!
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. So much so that the group will remain active and plans for an annual village tradition have already been discussed! Find out how you can get involved in 2021 by joining the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/twyhalloween
